CSS clip

The CSS clip property is used to clip a box to a given shape (rectangle is the only shape specfified in CSS2.1). Coordinates are supplied that indicate where the clipping will occur.

Syntax: clip: rect(<value1><value2>,<value3><value4>)
Possible Values:
  • auto
  • <shape> (rectangle is the only shape supported in CSS2.1) followed by four coordinates
  • inherit
Initial Value: Auto
Applies to: Absolutely positioned elements
Inherited: No
Media: Visual
Example: clip: rect(10px, 155px, 145px, 10px)
